From February 3rd to 7th 2024, Slemani Governor Dr. Haval Abubakir and Mr. Shamal Abubakir, engineer and coordinator of Slemani UNESCO Creative City of Literature office, under the supervision and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Prince of Eastern Province of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa Province (the largest governorate in Saudi Arabia), on the formal invitation of esteemed Mr. Essam bin Abdullatif Al-Mulla, engineer and Mayor of Al-Ahsa Municipality of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shbith, coordinator of Al-Ahsa UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art, in the company of esteemed Mr. Arif Mahmood Alrawajih, Mayor of Madaba Province of Kingdom of Jordan, esteemed coordinator of Madaba UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art in mosaics, and esteemed representative of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture, participated in Al Ahsa province’s activities in crafts and folk art as well as the international Al-Ahsa Processed Dates Marketing Festival.
During these assemblies, they had meetings with esteemed Mayor of Al-Ahsa Municipality and other related parties, and reached a mutual understanding with each city of Al-Ahsa and Madaba, to benefit from one another’s experiences, exchange capacities, provide fully-funded education and professional training opportunities for Slemani and Kurdistan’s wishful applicants, and support each other in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network which Slemani is an active member of, as well as in the Arab Countries’ Towns Organization (Arab Towns Organization).
