On November 23, 2025, marking the death anniversary of the great Kurdish poet and intellectual Nali, a gathering was held in his honor. The event took place in a natural rural setting resembling Nali’s birthplace in the Qaragol village and was sponsored by Diary Haji Jaza, the chieftain of the Mikayeli Jaff tribe.
The gathering began with the unveiling of a portrait of Nali, followed by the opening of an art exhibition featuring imaginative and reconstructed likenesses of the revered poet. Subsequently, several speeches were delivered, and a panel discussion regarding various dimensions of Nali’s life and work was conducted with the participation of Dr. Muhsin Adib, Khasraw Jaff, Malla Jassim Kalari, and Dr. Mohammed Abduli.
Afterward, several poems were recited by various poets. The event concluded with a segment dedicated to songs and music, during which the “Nali Portrait Award” was presented to several notable figures.
What was witnessed serves as a positive indication of the importance placed on recognizing great literary figures and predecessors, as well as introducing them to the new generation.
