On the occasion of the Akitu Festival and the Babylonian New Year, Dr. Haval Abubaker the governor of Slemani,, accompanied by Mr. Hashim Hama Abdullah Director of Slemani Antiquities and Heritage and archaeologist Rawa Karim, visited the Church of the Virgin Mary. Located in the Sabunkaran neighborhood, this is one of Slemani’s oldest churches; it was built in 1862 by philanthropists and is currently in the final stages of a renovation that preserves its original authenticity. During his visit, Dr. Haval Abubaker extended his congratulations, appreciation, and support to Father Peter and our Christian brothers and sisters.
