The Civil Development Organization (CDO) is one of the most prominent and influential non-governmental organizations in Slemani, dedicated to strengthening civil society and protecting the rights of various social groups. Established in the late 1990s, it evolved from a local initiative into a key regional actor in the fields of humanitarian relief and rights advocacy. The organization’s work spans a wide range of areas, from promoting human rights and democratic values to providing essential services for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees.

Vision: To establish a civil society within Iraqi society by building the capacity of civil society organizations in Iraq, promoting democracy and peace, improving human rights conditions, combating violence against women, increasing women’s political participation, providing legal aid to vulnerable and low-income groups, and advocating for local communities.
