Today, in the cities of Rania and the Qaladze—Dr. Haval Abubaker, the Governor of Slemani, leading a delegation from the Slemani Governorate, participated in the official reception, honoring, and funeral ceremony of the late Dr. Rafiq Sabir—the prominent and noble Kurdish writer, poet, Peshmerga, academic, and parliamentarian.
The ceremony was held with the participation of elites, intellectuals, and talents from all regions of Kurdistan and the Kurdish diaspora. It was organized under the auspices of His Excellency Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister, and overseen by Mr. Ata Mohammed, the representative of the Deputy Prime Minister’s office. This was coordinated with Mr. Hiwa Qarani, Supervisor of the Raperin Independent Administration, Mr. Bakir Bayiz, the Mayor of Pshdar, and all relevant cultural, governmental, and political institutions, alongside the honorable family of Dr. Rafiq Sabir.
In a speech, the Governor highlighted the late doctor’s generous legacy and distinguished contributions, and he laid a wreath of respect and loyalty at his final resting place. Several fitting activities were performed, and loyal citizens lined the roads between Rania and Qaladze to pay their respects to the procession.
The family of the deceased presented the sacred Kurdistan flag that draped the casket of Dr. Rafiq Sabir to the representative of the Deputy Prime Minister, who in turn presented it to Dr. Haval Abubaker. The flag will be preserved in the museum of the Slemani Governorate Office as a symbol of commitment to the messages of the deceased and as a testament to the dignity and sovereignty of Kurdistan, and his noble character.
