This is an official art gallery in Slemani, established in 2006 in honor of the renowned Kurdish painter, the late Ismail Khayat (1944–2022), to commemorate his history and rare contributions to the field of fine arts. The gallery is dedicated to displaying paintings and artworks, as well as promoting Kurdish fine arts. One of Khayat’s most notable works was painting the stones of “Pirar” village as a protest against civil war and an advocacy for peace. As an important cultural hub in Slemani, the gallery hosts various art exhibitions and preserves the memory of one of the pillars of contemporary Kurdish art.
