The Slemani International Book Fair is the most anticipated annual literary event in the Kurdistan Region. Held near Tasluja, the fair hosts hundreds of publishing houses from the Middle East, Europe, and other countries, and continues for ten days. Thousands of people from all walks of life—from students to scholars and politicians—gather to explore the latest publications in Kurdish, Arabic, Persian, English, and other languages.
The fair is not merely a marketplace for selling books; it is a cultural festival. It features a dense program that includes book signings, seminars, poetry recitals, and intellectual discussions. The high attendance is a strong testament to the Kurdish people’s long-standing love for reading and their thirst for knowledge.
