Established in 1961, the Slemani Museum is the second-largest archaeological museum in Iraq, following the National Museum in Baghdad. The museum houses thousands of archaeological artifacts dating from the Stone Age to the late Islamic era. One of the most valuable masterpieces in this museum is the clay tablet containing a vital part of the “Epic of Gilgamesh,” which helped complete missing sections of that world-famous story.
