As a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Literature, Slemani participated in the first edition of the global newsletter, initiated and organized by Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature (New Zealand) and published in collaboration with member cities across the network.
This initiative provides an opportunity to bring together creative cities of literature from around the globe, aiming to strengthen international ties, exchange ideas, and spotlight prominent literary activities taking place across the network.
In this first issue of the global newsletter, the Slemani UNESCO City of Literature office highlighted three of its key projects:
- A Collaborative Project: (INKubator – in partnership with the City of Melbourne) — in which 5 writers from Slemani and 5 writers from Melbourne worked collaboratively together.
- A Recent Project: “Bahaiden Graphic Arts with Poetry” — a publication by the prominent artist Bahaiden, printed and published under the patronage and sponsorship of the Governor of Slemani, Dr. Haval Abubaker.
- An Upcoming Project: A poetry initiative spearheaded by Slemani Creative City of Literature, in which poetry from more than 14 cities will be compiled and published in a joint anthology titled “Zangyana: Threading the Cities Poetry.
