On Anfal Memorial Day, Afsana Press announces the publication of the novel THE RESURRECTED, written by Dutch researcher and author Joost Hiltermann.

This novel is largely based on true events and tells the story of a genocide through the memories of those who lived through it—as victims, perpetrators, or witnesses. By weaving together the narratives of witnesses, the author paints a compelling portrait of the efforts of these individuals to survive and confront their fate under the most harrowing conditions during the 1988 Anfal campaigns in Iraq and their aftermath. In USA, the survivors build a secure life for themselves, yet they live with the “divided soul” characteristic of immigrants—until the day the past catches up with them again.
